Looking back (and Forward)

It has been such an interesting year. It was Gift Shop Brooklyn’s most successful year (because you guys are SO awesome!! Thank you!!) but the success lead to burn out, and instead of hiring help or figuring out how to fix it, I closed my shop for the majority of the summer. It was almost definitely a mistake; but a mistake I have learned from. Even though I feel like I am still recovering from burnout, I am planning new things for 2015! Taking steps to avoid making the same mistakes, and to keep Gift Shop Brooklyn exciting for you and me!  Thank you so much for being along for the ride, and for your constant support of American Made!! Here’s to a fantastic 2015! (and please feel free to let me know if there’s any items you would like to see offered this year!). xo

Sidenote:
Here is a really great article
on burnout I came across, Im sure I’m not the only one who can relate.

Time to Relax

It finally feels like summer here! The warm season is a great time to slow down a bit, lounge around, and relax. I’m hoping something like this can be in my near future.

Here are a few of my favorite lounge and sleep items…

1. Cami with matching bottoms by OhhhLuLu
2. want to throw this on over everything by bymomma190
3. this robe (might also wear during the day..? : ) by ktjean
5. Been obsessed with these little sets from Jcrew.
6. this bralette by KateXTee
8. romper by DW Designs

9. I always splash a little of this musk on before bed, it smells so fresh to me.

Love this shop (not pictured) everything is so light and summery. I have and love this super soft set (not pictured) from Victoria’s Secret.

I also keep a little dish on my nightstand with some baking soda, every few days I sprinkle on some lavender and eucalyptus essential oils, (the baking soda acts as a base, so the oils aren’t evaporated immediately). It smells so nice.Jcrew’s scout chino (all winter also) are my absolute favorite lounge pants. I always put them on at night (post work clothes, pre pajamas). They don’t seem to have them right now, but they do have a lot of nice lounge-y pants.relax and sleep well!

Beach Weather

The never ending winter is finally over (knock on wood)! Here are some of my favorite beach essentials..

BEACH

*COOLA Environmental Repair After-Sun Recovery – love this lotion after a long day in the sun, especially days when I forgot to reapply sunscreen. Aloe and agave feel really cool and goes on nice and smooth
*Ladylike Silk Scarf in freshwater
*Leather Glasses Case in white and prism pink
*Bandit Wine – Pinot Grigio
*Mae Wallet – big enough to hold my phone, cash and debit/credit cards, and some chap stick but small enough so it takes up hardly any room in my beach bag
*Nurture My Body Organic Sunscreen
*Cutler and Gross dark turtle sunglasses
*Evie Tote – (not pictured) perfectly light weight and roomy, holds all my beach essentials without weighing me down
